Biography

Animation artist Michaela Müller graduated with an MA in Animation and New Media from the Academy of Fine Arts, University Zagreb, Croatia and holds a diploma for teaching visual arts from the Lucerne University of Applied Arts, Switzerland. Before she dedicated herself to animation, she was a props master at Lucerne Theater.

Her paint on glass animations Airport and Miramare have been screened at film festivals worldwide: Cannes Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Ottawa Animation Festival, Annecy Animation Festival etc and won multiple awards.

Together with Swiss-American sound Artist Fa Ventilato and Croatian dancer Zrinka Simičić Mihanović she collaborated on the multimedia performance projects Trag/Trace/Spur, and Up the Stairs, Behind Doors, Out the Window.

She contributed painted animations to the opera project Orlando (Haendel), directed by Alvaro Schoeck, produced by New Belgrade Opera.

With New York musicians Val Opielski (Bush Tetras) and Heather Wagner (Jeffrey Lewis and Los Bolts), she performed at Cathouse Funeral, Brooklyn and has created music videos for songs by artists such as Kristin Mueller, Ryan Martin and Die Aeronauten.

Her recent commissioned work includes animations for global technology company Panasonic (2019) and Swiss department store Manor (2018/2019).

Currently Michaela is working on the animated documentary short film The Woman You Look For, in co-direction with Darcy Alexandra.
