TRACING EACH OTHER in Croatian educational program Ruksak (Pun) Kulture 2024
What started in 2012 with the collaborative performance Trag/Trace/Spur at the Museum for Contemporary Art in Zagreb found a third continuation, with variation, in 2024. Zrinka Šimičić Mihanović and I teamed up with sound artist Filip Borelli to take part in the Croatian Cultural Education Program Ruksak (Pun) Kulture 2024 with the performance Tracing Each Other (Prateći se).
The performance is based on tracing principles developed by Zrinka and Michaela in collaboration with sound artist Fa Ventilato, combining dance, projections of live painted animation and live sound. In an interactive play, they process the sensory input from the other performers through their own medium, thus creating inspirations for their collaborators. Dance, sound and visual material are mutually driving each other, celebrating movement and constant change.
Our program for the schools was composed of two parts, a 30 min presentation of the performance Prateći se (Tracing Each Other), followed by a 90 min workshop in which students stepped into our shoes. They had to figure out how to connect and communicate via their artistic performative actions themselves.
A difficult task of mastering a new media, and interacting with others simultaneously! But the students were curious and brave. Each of them passed through the three stations: dancing with Zrinka, making music with Filip and animating liquid paint with me.
The participation of Prateći se in Ruksak (Pun) Kulture 2024 was organised by Zrinka Šimičić Mihanović and produced by Multimedia Hut Zagreb.
